LONELY CHILD
The Imaginary World of Claude Vivier

“… one of the greatest composers of his generation…”
György Ligeti
A few years after receiving the Canadian Composer of the Year Award, avant-garde composer Claude Vivier was found murdered in his Paris apartment. Lonely Child, a feature length docu-drama, explores the events that led to his tragic death and why his colleagues called him “an angel by day and devil by night.”

Shot in Montreal, Toronto, Montepulciano, Vienna and Paris, the film features concert performances of Vivier music, archival footage, interviews with associates and dramatic re-enactments of pivotal moments in the composer’s life. It creates a magical world of changing realities haunted by the spirit of Claude Vivier.
